Eurofish Business Platform facilitates the presence of Turkish delegation at St Petersburg event

As one of the services to its member countries, Eurofish International Organisation occasionally facilitates the participation of delegations at trade fairs around Europe. The Global Seafood Forum and Seafood Expo held in St. Petersburg, Russia on 14-16 September 2017 and organized by Expo Solutions Group together with Roscongress was a good opportunity to bring a delegation of officials and traders from Turkey to Russia. It gave the participants an opportunity both to explore the Russian seafood market and to introduce their products and services.

Spanish seafood congress explores ways to increase consumption

The 5th Seafood Quality congress, focused on addressing new consumption challenges, was held in Madrid, Spain on 28 June 2017. The event was co-organised by the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment and EUROFISH International Organisation. It was officially opened by Alberto López-Asenjo García, General Secretary for Fisheries, who stressed the need to improve the current practices of waste management and better communication with the general public and especially groups of younger consumers. 

The programme explored the prospects for innovations in consumption, consumer outreach and various elements of circular economy.

Insight into the international framework, including the role of certification in the seafood industry, EU consumer habits and consumption trends of farmed fish in the Mediterranean, was presented by José Estors Carballo from FAO, Frangiscos Nikolian from the European Commission and Ekaterina Tribilustova from EUROFISH International Organisation.

Success of the Eurofish Business Platform at Polfish

EF at Polfish2017POLFISH (www.polfishfair.pl) is the only international fair for seafood processing and products in Poland.  It takes place every second year in the city of Gdansk on the Baltic coast.  In June 2017 the 14th edition of the show hosted 170 exhibitors from 15 countries. Eurofish International Organisation, together with the fair organiser MTG SA Gdansk International, provided a business platform to companies from its Member Countries, where they could exhibit and promote their products and services, mingle with visitors and other exhibitors, and hold meetings with potential business partners. The platform was very positively evaluated by the exhibiting companies, many of which made a number of useful contacts in Central Europe.

Polish fish industry event achieves record attendance

Pol event2017The largest event held by the Polish fish industry, the Fish Congress, was recently held for the 4th time in Sopot with a record number of participants. Under the official patronage of the Polish Minister of Maritime Economy and with the support of Eurofish International Organisation, the meeting is the fisheries industry’s annual management conference. Organized by the Fish Market Development Association in Gdynia, partners included the National Marine Fisheries Research Institute and the West Pomeranian University of Technology. This year the conference gathered over 300 participants and included 50 presentations in the plenary and thematic sessions.

Romanian fisheries association at Seafood Expo Global for the first time ever

2017 EF at SEG2Eurofish International Organisation works in close co-operation with its 12 member countries and has extensive experience in promoting the fisheries and aquaculture industry in these countries, and disseminating information about the post-harvest and aquaculture sectors through the pages of the EUROFISH Magazine. Eurofish also promotes sectoral institutions and the private sector in its member countries by supporting participation in joint booths at various seafood shows. This year the Eurofish stand at Seafood Expo Global also hosted the Ro-Pescador association from Romania. The association offered visitors samples of products traditional in Romania – marinated sprats and rapana (a marine snail) from the Black Sea, cold-smoked Atlantic mackerel, as well as cold-smoked carp and shad from the Danube delta. The samples proved popular with guests from all around the world – the joint stand attracted visitors from over 20 countries – and Daniel Buhai, the managing director of Ro-Pescador, says he will be back again next year.
